I think that one of the most exciting times in a little girl’s life is her first visit to a jewelry store. Then again, I think that a lot of women never grow out of that feeling of excitement either! There is something magical about looking at all of the sparkling pieces glittering in the jewelry store window, even if you cannot afford to buy everything that you see.

My youngest daughter’s face lit up when she saw all of the lovely children’s items when I first took her to a jewelry store. When we went inside she felt like a princess being able to try on all of the bracelets and necklaces with cute designs and the jewelry store workers seemed to enjoy the experience of watching her almost as much. When we left the jewelry store with her new bracelet safely wrapped up she was clinging onto the bag as if it was the most precious thing in the world. She still has that bracelet even now, although it has long since gotten too small for her to wear, and it reminds me of that first trip we took to the jewelry store together.

Of course, a jewelry store can also be an extremely romantic place. Sound strange? Well, think about it. How many couples go to a jewelry store together to pick out their wedding rings? I know how electrifying it felt when my fianc? and I went to choose our wedding rings and finally found a jewelry store that had the perfect ones in their window. When we went inside we both had a feeling that this was going to symbolize the start of our new life together and the jewelry store played an important part in that.

I guess it doesn’t matter what you buy in a jewelry store they always seem to have an air of something special about them. It might be the fact that there are a lot of expensive items around and everything is shimmering with that newly-cleaned look that only jewelry store workers seem to be able to achieve!

Sometimes it is easy to feel a little underdressed, especially when you enter some of the more exclusive types of jewelry store that you have to ring a bell to be let into but I love them all the same. I must admit that I am not a big jewelry wearer but I do like to have a couple of nice pieces for special occasions and often take a look around the local jewelry store when I need cheering up. It might sound silly but maybe you should try it too – all that brightness around me certainly seems to rub off and raise my spirits.

No woman in her right mind would turn down a chance to go shopping for new shoes. Whether she has 1 pair or a 100, the lure of shopping for shoes is over powering. There just is no question about it, shoes are FUN! That is not to even mention the infinite outfit combinations we have even more FUN putting together as a result of new shoes! Shoes must both look right and feel right for the occasion. Therefore, options are needed and the more you have, the absolute better.

Styles change and so do women’s tastes. Whether high heels or platforms, square, rounded or pointed toes, flip flops or athletic, the lure of shopping for shoes is irresistible. There are just so many kinds of shoes all serving different purposes. Hours are spent in shoe departments all over the world shopping for shoes. From $5 flip flops to $500 designer name shoes there are so many things to consider. One thing is generally certain: If a woman REALLY likes a pair of shoes, whether she needs them or not, she will most likely buy them, regardless of price.

I know a couple and the wife has hundreds of pairs of shoes. The husband has but two pair, one black and one brown. BORING and oh, so WAY not enough options. What about style? And does he have dress shoes or are these two pair of the athletic variety or what? That, of course, does not include his golf shoes. Most men have at least two of those if they are like my Father and Brother, both avid golfers. Any way, he said “That’s all I need and I always have plenty of money to go golfing every weekend.” She said “You take the golfing (and your boring shoes) and I will take all the therapeutic effects of the shopping. It also is such good exercise, both mentally and physically!”

Being practical about buying shoes is so out dated.. The more shoes, the more choices. Life is good if it is all about choices, not about being practical. Practicality was for my mother, and the days of practical shopping are gone forever. Now plastic rules (along with beautiful shoes) and somehow the credit card bill will get paid. I mean if we only live once, we should certainly be spending like it. Life is way too short to not have the cutest and best shoes possible. We can find other ways to be thrifty but please do not be so when it comes to shoes. The days of the “have mores” are here to rule and the days of the “have nots” (shoes, that is) are long gone forever.

Another couple I know try to go shopping together (BIG mistake). Inevitably and much to her husband’s dismay and irritation, the wife ends up in the shoe department trying on shoes, one pair after another. A beautiful thing to see, right? She finds a pair she likes and says to her husband “I want these shoes!” Her husband replies “Do you need them?” She says “No, but they will go great with my pink dress that I bought six months ago and have never worn because I have never had just the perfect shoes to go with it. Besides, I did put back several pair that I also liked very much, but not quite as much as these. They are so ‘choice’, ‘sweet’ and absolutely the ‘most divine’ shoes I have, to date, ever seen!!!” The husband gives in, all the while thinking about the bills that are coming due.

Let a woman give you husbands a few tips about shopping:

1 — It’s a losing battle.

2 — Don’t go shopping with your wife – It ruins her shopping trip. Would you want us to go golfing with you? I didn’t think so. It would ruin your day.

3 — When your wife goes shopping –Expect a marathon and don’t expect her home before the stores close—should she arrive home early it will be a pleasant surprise. If she doesn’t–Fix your own dinner!

4 — Never call her on her cell phone and ask “Where are you?” or “When are you going be home?” Big “NO NO” and grave interruption to her “therapy”. She does not want to be in touch with reality while shopping. Trust me on this one.

Girls—Enjoy a most pleasant shopping experience! Happy shopping! Husbands—Heed my warnings and all will be well! AND–Happy golfing or whatever other pastime compensates for your serious lack of options!

Style, colour and ceremonial importance of the bridal gown worn by the bride during the wedding ceremony depends upon the culture and religion of the couple getting married.

Style, colour and ceremonial importance of the bridal gown worn by the bride during the wedding ceremony depends upon the culture and religion of the couple getting married.

White is the preferred color of the bridal gown among the westerners. Creamy shades such as ivory, ecru and eggshell are also used in making bridal gowns. Queen Victoria of England, wore a white bridal gown when she got married to Albert of Sax-Coburg in the year 1840. Since then the white bridal gown became the norm in all marriages. In the earlier years, bridal gowns were made in any colour except black. Innocence of the childhood and purity of heart was symbolized by the white bridal gown.

A bride to be can spend weeks and sometimes even months looking for a perfect bridal gown because of the variety of designs and styles available. Determine three things – theme of the wedding, time of the year the wedding is held and the budget – with these three things finalized, picking up the correct gown will become easier.

Choose a gown style depending upon the style and formality of the wedding function. In a formal wedding it is better to wear a formal bridal gown. Besides a white bridal gown, another appropriate choice is ivory which is also considered as a formal wedding gown. Bridal gowns in pink, peach and ice blue are also becoming very popular.

The average retail cost of a bridal gown is around $700. Prices of designer and premium gowns start from $2000.

Maggie Sottero, Mon Cheri, Marisa, Pronovias, Mori Lee, Davinci, Demetrios, Bonny, Eden Bridals and Mikaela are some of the popular designer bridal gowns.

When selecting the bridal gown, take someone close to you and who knows what is best for you. This will help in getting a gown which is not radically different from the usual style suitable for you.

It is better to ensure the bridal gown is comfortable and it is not restricting your movement. Getting a bridal gown can be a demanding process so initiate the process well in advance. Compare the designs from various fashion magazines and also go through family photo albums to know which will be the most suitable style.

Prior to committing yourself on a particular design, try different types and designs. If the bridal gown is custom made, allot six months for the making of the gown. Too many friends accompanying you during the shopping for gowns will only confuse you and you may end up making an incorrect selection.

Most people may not have heard of candidiasis and the ones who do know can tell you the symptoms of the disease can easily be mistaken for an upset stomach, an allergic reaction or simple exhaustion.

Unfortunately, if left unattended, candidiasis or infection brought about by the fungus candida albicans can cause serious damage to the body.

The good news is candidiasis, in its early stages, may not necessarily mean a trip to the doctor where you would incur expensive fees and medical bills. For the most part, home remedies have proven quite effective in combating the effects of candidiasis. The key is to administer these remedies early on.

Tea tree oil mouthwash

For oral thush:
Mix a few drops of tea tree oil (approximately 5 to 8 drops) into a glass of either warm or cold water. Gargle the mixture for about a minute. Let the solution touch all the parts of the mouth (throat, palate, cheek lining). Be careful not to swallow the solution. Gargle two times a day (preferably one in the morning and one before sleeping).

For vaginal yeast infection:
Add a few drops of tea tree oil onto a tampon or sterile gauze and apply on to the affected area. Replace every 4 to 6 hours.

Plain yogurt
Make sure it has absolutely no sugar and other ingredients added to it. The yogurt should contain live lactobacillus acidophilus, which are good bacteria that keep candida albicans in check.

For vaginal yeast infection:
Dip tampon in the yogurt and insert into the vagina. Use twice a day until the symptoms clear up and repeat for one more extra day for good measure.

For skin problems (cutaneous candidiasis)
Apply yogurt directly on the affected area. Not only will the yogurt address the fungal infection, but also the yogurt will lend a soothing effect and relieve severe itching and weeping. Let yogurt stand for an hour or so and wash off well. Keep affected area dry. Apply two to three times a day.

Apple cider vinegar

For oral thrush: Mix two (2) teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to one (1) cup cool water. Gargle with solution. Do not swallow. After gargling, dip a cotton swab in undiluted apple cider vinegar and apply directly on to the oral sores. Do not rinse. Allow to stand overnight.

For vaginal yeast infection:
Create a douching solution of one (1) tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and two (2) cups of water. Add one (1) garlic clove and allow the solution to stand for two hours before using for douching.

Changes in diet

Candida seems to thrive on high-sugar diets. So in order to “starve” the fungi, go on a low-to-no sugar diet, using sugar alternatives at best. Continue with this diet for as long as symptoms persist. In addition to the altered diet, make sure you receive sufficient doses of vitamins (A, B-complex, C) as well as minerals (iron and zinc).

This solution works best when the symptoms are becoming systemic, meaning that different parts of the body are affected all at the same time. (For example, in addition to vaginal yeast infection, you have also contracted skin and stomach problems as well.) Diabetics, however, need to consult with a medical professional before undergoing this measure.

Other solutions: Prevention worth a pound of cure

To prevent candida overgrowth, which is the prime cause of the disorders, observe these tips (especially for the women).

- Don’t douche or clean inside the vagina. Do not use vaginal deodorants or perfumed soaps when washing the external area. You can strip the body of the natural elements that keep the fungus in check. At best, use plain water or a mild, pH-balanced cleanser.

- Avoid tight clothes (including underwear), especially ones made of nylon. These prevent proper aeration (breathing) of the skin. It encourages moisture to form in the body, which is prime breeding ground for fungi.

- Drink plenty of water to keep the body cool and to flush out toxins (including those produced by the candida fungus) out of your body.

- Have a good number of servings of bananas, yogurt, and garlic. These foods have been found to have lots of anti-fungal properties and if part of your regular diet, the chances of avoiding candidiasis are great.

- Do not skip meals and avoid keeping your stomach empty for long periods of time. You wreak havoc on a body that function best when working on routine time. Having irregular eating habits have been observed to increase the chances of candida overgrowth.

The key to all of these home remedies are early and quick detection. So in order to administer the right remedy, learn to recognize the symptoms.

However, should you be unsure of the indicators, always consult with a qualified and licensed medical professional. Listen to their advice and pair them with these home remedies. You just may be a step closer to ridding, if not totally avoiding, candidiasis and its nasty effects.

Have you recently decided that you would like to undergo cosmetic surgery? Regardless of whether you are looking to undergo liposuction, get a facelift, or have your excess skin removed, you will want and need to find a quality cosmetic …

Have you recently decided that you would like to undergo cosmetic surgery? Regardless of whether you are looking to undergo liposuction, get a facelift, or have your excess skin removed, you will want and need to find a quality cosmetic surgery center with a good reputation to do the job.

One of the best ways to find a quality cosmetic surgery center to seek treatment from is by speaking to your primary care physician. If you are unable to do so, consider calling or stopping by your local hospital. In the medical field, most doctors have an open network of communication. This means that your primary care physician or hospital workers should be able to give you the contact information of local cosmetic surgery centers or surgeons with their own private practices. This approach is nice, as you won’t get sent to just anyone.

Another easy way that you can go about finding a local cosmetic surgery center is by using the internet. When doing so, you have a couple of different options. For starters, you will want to perform a standard internet search. Be sure to incorporate your location into your search, like by using the phrases “Atlanta cosmetic surgery,” or “Atlanta cosmetic surgery centers.” Your standard internet search should connect you with practices that have online websites. You can view these online websites to get more information, as well as contact information.

In keeping with using the internet, you can also use online business directories to find local cosmetic surgery centers or surgeons with their own private practices. Many search engines have business directory features that you are able to use. What you will want to do is search for the type of business that you are looking for, a cosmetic surgery center, and then your location. You should be provided with an address and telephone number for each of your results.

Speaking of phone numbers, you can also use your local phone book to find cosmetic surgeons with private practices or cosmetic surgery centers. In the back of your phone book should be a business directory section, which is also commonly referred to as the yellow pages. Under the heading of physicians, you should find information on cosmetic surgeons. If your phone book does not automatically categorize physicians based on their specialty, look for headings that contain the phrases “cosmetic,” or “cosmetic surgery.”

Another great approach that you can take is to ask those that you know for recommendations. Cosmetic surgery is increasing in popularity. For that reason, there is a good chance that you know someone who has gone under the knife, even for a simple procedure like the removal of a mole. Ask your friends, family members, neighbors, or coworkers if they know of any quality cosmetic surgeons or cosmetic surgery centers in your area. Asking for recommendations from those that you know is nice because it limits the amount of research that you have to do yourself.

As for why you should do research, it is important to remember that there are a number of dangers and risks that are associated with cosmetic surgery. For that reason, you need to make sure that you choose a well-qualified cosmetic surgeon. By taking the time to find the best surgeon or surgical center in your area, you are likely to reduce the chances of complications, as well as improve your chances of getting the results you were hoping for. The last thing that you will want to do is choose the first surgeon that you come across. When undergoing cosmetic, it is important to make sure that you take steps to protect your health, your appearance, and your wallet.

Now that you know just a few of the many ways that you can go about finding cosmetic surgeons in your area, you can get started. Remember to do the proper amount of research first. In fact, you may want to schedule a couple of consultation appointments with different surgeons before making your final decision.

It is Murphy’s law that just when you are able to get food into your body without having it come back up, that you suddenly find you can not get the food out of your body. Nearly half of all …

It is Murphy’s law that just when you are able to get food into your body without having it come back up, that you suddenly find you can not get the food out of your body. Nearly half of all the women who are pregnant suffer from constipation during pregnancy.

As with all symptoms of pregnancy there is a reason for constipation. When you are pregnant your body creates progesterone which in turns relaxes the muscles of the bowels and causes your digestive tracks to work much slower. Your digestive track works slower to make sure your body absorbs the nutrients from your food for your baby. This can create constipation, which if it not kept under control, can lead to hemorrhoids.

There are some ways you can help avoid constipation throughout your pregnancy. Make sure you included plenty of fiber in your diet. Fiber absorbs water and can help to soften your stools and speed their passage. Eat plenty of high fiber foods like whole grain cereal and oatmeal. Instead of eating white bread with your sandwiches, eat whole grain breads. Add some oat bran to your cereals or yogurt.

Fresh fruits are also an excellent way to get your fiber in. Melons and plums have a high amount of fiber in them as wells as dried fruits like figs, raisins, apricots and of course the well known favorite prunes. Prunes and prune juice have a like laxative effect and will help keep things moving properly in your body. Aim to eat at least 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day. You can tell you are getting enough fiber if your stools are large and soft and you aren’t straining to pass them. Keep in mind though that too much fiber can lead to diarrhea which can lead to dehydration so do not over do the fiber in your diet.

Also, drinking plenty of fluid will help you combat constipation. Fluids help keep digestive products moving through your system so it is very important for you to drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day. Keeping up with your fluids is important especially if you are increasing your intake of fiber. Your body needs to water to soak up the fiber otherwise it can cause more constipation.

Also, make sure you are eating your yogurt if you can. Yogurt has a bacteria called acidophilus that helps stimulate the intestinal bacteria to break down food better. Look at your prenatal. Some of the prenatal that women take contain a lot of iron and iron can play a big part in constipation. Talk to your doctor to see if you can switch for a while to a different prenatal that contains less iron or at least stay off of the prenatal for a while until your constipation is under control.

Avoid foods that can lead to constipation. White bread and some cereals such as corn flakes can lead to constipation as well as white rice and bananas. If all this fails, give your doctor a call to see if there is something you can take to help keep you regulated. Most doctors will allow you to take Metamucil to help keep things moving.

Constipation is never pleasant but during pregnancy it can be even extra uncomfortable. Make sure you take the steps to avoid constipation. It will help make your pregnancy that much more enjoyable.

Ask any parent who has a child who is allegeric to peanuts how difficult their live has become. Food shopping can take hours because every food label must be read it and studied to make sure it contains no traces of peanuts. Arrangements for peanut free foods must be made with the child’s school ahead of time and other children’s birthdays parties can be a parent’s worse nightmare. Peanut allergies although common can be one of the most fatal allergies a child could suffer from. Some children are so sensitive to their peanut allergy that if they come into contact with peanuts just from someone else’s skin, their life can be at risk. Peanut allergies can lead to anaphylactic shock which is a sever allergic reaction that can be fatal.

Peanut allergies are usually not diagnosed until a child reaches the age of 2 or even three years old. The American Academy of Pediatrics states that parents who have a peanut allergy in the family should wait until their child is at least three years old before giving them peanuts or anything containing peanuts. There are even some conservative obgyns who advise their pregnant patients not to eat peanuts especially if when they are in their third trimester regardless of if there is a history of peanut allergy in the family or not.

The reason for this is because in order for a peanut allergy to develop, the child has to come into contact with small traces of a peanut. This contact sensitizes the child so that they later have a severe allergic reaction. Some experts believe that this first sensitization can occur during pregnancy. It is believed that a tiny amount of peanut protein can cross the placenta. In fact a recent study showed that if a women ate peanuts or peanut butter while pregnant their baby could be four times more likely to develop a peanut allergy than a child whose mother didn’t eat any peanuts during her pregnancy.

This isn’t to say though that if you have a no history of nut allergies you should avoid peanuts at all costs. In fact, peanuts and peanut butter are very beneficial to you and your baby. Peanuts are a useful source of folic acid and protein, both which are very important to your and your growing baby. Peanuts and peanut butter has been said to help some women get through the first trimester morning sickness. Keep in mind however that there have been some instances when women who had no history of peanut allegeries in their family and ate a over whelming amount of peanuts or even peanut butter through out their pregnancies wound up with children who had a peanut allergy.

Before you decide to throw out all your peanuts and say good bye to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, talk to your doctor. Give your doctor a detailed family history and let him know if there are any peanut allergies in your family. With your doctors help you will be able to create a healthy peanut eating plan for your pregnancy. If you do not feel comfortable at all eating peanuts due to the risk do not let anyone change your mind. It is your body and your child and you have the right to make that decision.

A number of novels and stories of the early 18th and 19th centuries often portray women as mad and irrational beings, thus, espousing the creation of mad women literature. But, modern medicine dispels this “mad” attribute. By establishing that women’s hormones are more sensitive and susceptible to change than that of men, more attention is given to female health. Menstruation, menopause, PMS, and perimenopause – these are all part and parcel of general health topics related to women. Aside from that similarity of being part of female health, these phenomena are due to one thing: hormonal changes. Hormones are fickle, they change with the slightest variation in diets or physical activity. Sometimes even emotional upheavals are enough to make women’s hormones go haywire. Researchers on female health come up with studies on the relationship of female psycho-emotional well-being and their physical health. More often than not, hormones are the established links between this relationship.

Hormonal imbalances are the usual culprits for a number of health disorders in women. Although some of the symptoms are associated with other illnesses, their root remains to be unbalanced hormones. As varied as general health topics are, they range from physical manifestations to psychological and emotional troubles. Physical manifestations of hormonal imbalances include fatigue, weakness, weight gain, weight loss, digestive problems, hot flashes, and joint pain. Other symptoms are more pronounced and less insidious like hair loss and dry skin. Unfortunately, with the demands of career and family life, women often ignore these symptoms as merely due to excess work and overall tiredness. Some attempt to cure their symptoms with remedies and rest that do not work. Hormonal imbalances need medical attention and hormonal supplements to be treated properly. Otherwise, symptoms grow worse with heart palpitations, increased nausea, urinary dysfunction, breast pain, and vaginal dryness. Extreme cases even include changes in menstrual periods with the affected person either suffering from extended periods and bleeding or have total absence of periods.

If the symptoms and conditions above are bad enough, they are just the hormonal imbalances’ physical aspect. Usually cropping up as manifestations of other psychological disorders, the psycho-emotional aspect of these imbalances are often disruptive. There are documented cases wherein afflicted persons confess of being unable to function at their normal level because of the symptoms. Some of the minor symptoms include cravings and mood swings. However, if the symptoms do not receive treatment, they progress to worse conditions like lack of sexual desire, depression, insomnia, and unclear reasoning. It’s no wonder that general health topics and concerns about women often include well-being exercises.

But, these imbalances are not permanent afflictions. With proper diet, exercise, supplements, and counseling, women are able to get their hormones back on track. However, early detection is a key factor in treating hormonal imbalances. It is therefore important not to dismiss the symptoms as just belonging to general health topics or issues. Hormonal imbalances are not just topics — they are real, and they happen to more women everyday.

Obagi Toner is a refreshing blend of natural ingredients which hydrates and tones your skin while restoring a normal pH balance. The Obagi Toner is a wonderful toner that does not dry out your skin excessively, like other popular toners. Instead of drying out your skin Obagi Toner restores the natural pH balance of your skin.

Most toners today are pH balancing and represent a new direction in the skin care industry, however some toners dry the skin excessively and this is not a good thing, especially if your skin condition is already prone to be dry. Directions for use, you should clean your skin with Obagi Cleanser or a gentle cleanser, then apply Obagi toner onto your face and neck with a cotton ball. DO NOT rinse off.

Ingredients include: witch hazel distillate, potassium alum, purified water, aloe barbadensis gel, sodium PCA panthenol, calendula officinalis extract, saponis, fragrance, DMDM hydantion, polysorbate 80, allantoin, sage extract, FD& C blue #1

Obagi Toner is Step two in the Obagi Nu Derm system, it prepares your skin for the application of Obagi Clear. Obagi products promote skin restoration at the cellular level, unlike other skin care products that only treat the problems on the surface. It is advisable for you to consult your Doctor or skin care professional before using any type of skin care treatments.

You can easily find and purchase Obagi toner and other great products from the Obagi line, at the many online Beauty stores and skin-care outlets available on the web. Individual Obagi Products can be purchased but the Obagi line of products are most effective when they are used together as a complete skin care treatment.

Let the Face Shape Guide assist you in selecting a style that is perfect for you. Your facial shape is the starting point to choosing a style that flatters you.

To find out the shape of your face, measure it with a tape measure – and write them down:

- Measure your face across the top of your cheekbones.
- Measure across jawline from the widest point to the widest point.
- Measure across forehead to the widest point. Generally the widest point will be about halfway between your eyebrows and hairline.
- Measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of chin.

OVAL – many choices
Slightly narrower at the jawline than at the temples, with a gently rounded hairline.
Try: Most any hair shape works well. Short, medium and long lengths, plus styles swept away from face.

ROUND – add height without adding extra width
Full-looking face with round chin and hairline.
Try: Chin-length or longer styles, cuts with fullness and height at the crown, layered top, off-center parts.

SQUARE – avoid styles that add width at the jawline
Angular jawline, same width as forehead
Try: Styles that lengthen the face and add fullness on top work best. Avoid styles that add width at the jawline.

RECTANGULAR – avoid styles that add height on top
Long and slender, about the same width at forehead and just below cheekbones.
Try: Short to medium lengths, fullness at the sides, soft wispy bangs.

HEART- add volume to chin
Wider at the temples and hairline, narrowing to a small chin.
Try: Chin-length or longer styles, side parts, swept forward layers around the upper face, wispy bangs.

PEAR – add volume above jawline
Narrow forehead, round chin
Try: Frame the face with bangs and full layers on the sides and on top, with hair falling below the chin.

There are thousands of wigs out there for all types of women. Popular name brand wigs include Paula Young, Star Jones, Christine Jordan, Beauty in Motion, Especially Yours, NewHair, Naomi Sims, Gabor, and Diahann Carroll.
